Cristiano Ronaldo, the five-time Ballon d'Or winner and all-time leading goal scorer in international football, has been awarded the prestigious Platinum Quinas Trophy by the Portuguese Football Federation (FPF). The award, presented at the Quinas De Ouro gala, recognizes Ronaldo’s immense contributions to Portuguese football and his record-breaking achievements with the national team. With 133 goals in 216 appearances, Ronaldo remains a cornerstone of Portugal’s football legacy.
In attendance at the gala were Portugal’s Prime Minister Luís Montenegro and FPF President Fernando Gomes, who honored Ronaldo for his dedication to the sport. At 39, Ronaldo’s career has spanned over two decades, marked by numerous accolades, including leading Portugal to victory at the Euro Cup in 2016 and the UEFA Nations League in 2019.
Reflecting on his journey, Ronaldo shared his pride in reaching milestones he once considered dreams. "It is an honor to receive this trophy. I see it as a beginning," he said, looking back on his career that began with his debut at 18. "At that age, my dream was just to earn my first cap. Then came 25, 50, and why not 100? As I reached each milestone, I thought of the next, and now, having surpassed 200 caps, it’s an incredible feeling," he remarked.
Ronaldo also praised Portugal’s football infrastructure and the current FPF leadership. “We have everything: stadiums, magnificent coaches, potential in our players, and the stars. Fernando Gomes is the best president we have ever had," he said, showing confidence in the future of Portuguese football.
Meanwhile, Ronaldo's club performance with Al-Nassr in Saudi Arabia continues to add to his legacy. Recently, he scored in Al-Nassr’s 5-1 victory over UAE’s Al-Ain in the AFC Champions League Elite. This win boosted Al-Nassr’s standing to third in the Saudi Pro League, with Ronaldo contributing 6 goals so far this season after leading the league’s scorers last season.
The Platinum Quinas Trophy is yet another testament to Ronaldo’s unwavering dedication and influence, both for his national team and his club. His journey stands as an inspiration, as he continues to break records and set new standards in the world of football.
